Bern, Switzerland – April 28, 2025 – The sustainable premium water brand BE WTR, is launching its first innovative, circular glass bottling site in Bern, in collaboration with BERNEXPO. BE WTR will allow the new Festhalle and all event formats at BERNEXPO to improve on CO2 emission with locally sourced, sustainable Bernese bottled water – bottled directly on site.

There is much to celebrate in Bern these days: alongside the opening of the spring fair BEA and the inauguration of the new Festhalle, Swiss premium water brand BE WTR, known for its sustainability, is also launching on site bottling on the BERNEXPO site. Following its locations in Lausanne and Zermatt, this is the third BE WTR bottling facility in Switzerland. From here, BE WTR will serve both BERNEXPO and the broader hospitality market in the Bern region.

The facility is equipped with BE WTR’s unique filtration and circular glass bottling technology, which reduces chlorine and fine particles like rust and microplastics, preserving only healthy minerals and the distinctive local taste of the water. The setup also includes the newly developed, state of the art, compact, and fully automated BiG 400 system, designed by BE WTR, which can fill up to 400 bottles of still or sparkling water per hour.

Another innovation is having a water bottling operating in a retail environment and open to the public! Customers could purchase BE WTR still and sparkling bottled on site in returnable glass bottles. 

Innovation Driving Rapid Growth

BE WTR Bern is launching in conjunction with the opening of BEA and the new Festhalle, driven by a shared vision to reduce CO₂ emissions and create Switzerland’s most environmentally friendly event venue. BE WTR’s still and sparkling water is bottled directly on-site, significantly shortening transport routes and eliminating the need for single-use packaging, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of bottled water.

BE WTR is growing rapidly: in addition to its three bottling sites in Switzerland, it operates facilities in France, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Kanada and China. In the coming months, the company plans to open one new site per month – including in other major Swiss cities. By the end of the year, BE WTR’s network is expected to expand to a total of 20 bottling locations.

A Sustainable Fair and Event Experience
