There was a time when the milkman came to deliver your fresh milk bottles in the morning. It is an image of a nostalgic and simple past. But also, an image of a brilliant and more sustainable future. Because the milkman took the empty bottles back to clean and refill them, so do we at BE WTR. Up to 200 times per bottle.

Single use packaging is flooding the world with a lot of non-biodegradable waste that will be around for hundred thousands of years. You surely have heard about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? (if not you’re in for a sad discovery), now you – as a hospitality player, or guest- can do something about it. And we are more than willing to help.

BE WTR was founded with the conviction that it is possible to do business in a way that doesn’t harm the planet. We are in no way perfect, but we try to do what we can to be careful with the earth’s resources, and we also work with the 4 important Rs in mind: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. This impacts all our professional decisions. At least the one with our returnable water bottles.

We actively refuse the waste generated from single use bottles.

We reduce the production needed for new bottles.

We, our clients and their guests, are reusing the bottles hundreds of times.

And we recycle them, thus closing the environmental loop.

In this way we save a lot of energy (up to 70% compared to producing new bottles). Reusable glass bottles also create 85% fewer carbon emissions than a single use glass bottle. Just one of our Dubai hospitality clients has saved the world of more than 1 500 000 single use plastic bottles yearly since they started to work with us. That’s not all. By using the returnable glass bottles instead of plastic, we also avoid adding hazardous microplastics to our environment. Microplastics that find its way into all our bodies and organs. 

It is widely known that contemporary consumers prefer eco-friendly practices and favourite players who take a sustainable stand. This will only grow. Many luxury hotels try to cater to the conscious guests by adapting to more sustainable habits. They are doing a fantastic job. But others are lagging a bit behind.

Since we started our business, we have seen a growing interest in what we do. People understand that shipping water across the planet is simply not sustainable. They also understand that single use should be banned once and for all.
It is true that our reusable, returnable bottles come with a cost. But it is a deposit. The bottles are of the finest, most durable glass, sturdy enough to be used for 200 cycles (instead of the sector average of 40). Just a small fee to make sure that we get all the bottles back, again and again. It helps us create the circular model, just like the one the milkman had.
